Here Are Some Techniques to Improve Your Memory

Not all will work. Yet appreciation will rise when it matches your learning style. Before you read some of the techniques below, please, consider your own expectation with limited time – The Kaizen Style. Below are what you are looking for.

Acrostics & Acronyms

Using the first letters of the material you wish to remember is the first process to create memorable acronyms or phrases. For instance, use the phrase “My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Noodles” to help you remember the planets’ positions (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune).

Rhyming Mnemonics

Aligning facts with a well-known song or melody can literally help you the best. Singing might make it easier for you to recall information, especially when trying to memorize a very long lesson.

Dividing into Manageable Parts

If you cannot remember the whole passage, dividing complicated one into more manageable units or divisions is considerable. For example, group the digits of a long phone number (123-456-7890) to help you remember it.

Create a Memory Palace

You sometimes visualize a familiar place, such as home, and various rooms or items with particular memories. You will remember the specifics as you mentally navigate the area. It also works when you feel comfort the most.

Write It Down

Information is retained better when it is physically written down. You can make note of important topics using a notepad, sticky notes, or flashcards. This reflects with four out of five senses – muscle memories of hand’s movement, sight, hearing and reading. Using more senses improves your memory.

Apply Spaced Repetition

Gradually review the content at longer intervals. By reviewing material right before forgetting it, this method aids in memory consolidation. It will work more effectively when you can get rid of distraction.
